Spring is the season of life and hope. This past weekend, FIFA organized its Sports Games 2017 with the theme of Life, Sports and Hope. Sports strengthen our life and power, and bring health and happiness to our children.
The teachers and students were excited for this event which has become a most popular day at FIFA. All of the teachers spent several weeks preparing for the performance as well as designing, teaching, choosing music and practicing with students.
Early Saturday morning, our lovely children got ready for this festival with their specially designed uniforms, signs and chants. Our school philosophy values student’s unique personalities and we encourage them to have good character. Every class prepared their own class sign and slogan which showed the special culture of the class.
Students in different grades also performed skills in martial arts, aerobics and taekwondo. It was a combination of different sports elements and cultures from the East and the West.
During the opening ceremony, all of the students participated. They marched, they sang, they played and they enjoyed. The parents were very impressed.
After the ceremony, the fun activities began. The international teachers designed different fun games for the families. The students ran around the field to complete as many activities as they could to earn a prize. Some of the games and activities were an obstacle course, sack race, and tug of war. Even our parents and teachers had fun by joining in or watching the kids.
Sunday was the day for competition. Most of students registered for 3 to 4 events and competed based on their grade level. There was happiness and disappointment but always good sportsmanship. We want the children to understand that winning is important but enjoying the games and learning from them is more important.
It was a pleasure to see the kids running on the field with big smiles on their faces. As we know, the meaning of the games is beyond winning. During these games, the students showed friendship, cooperation, helpfulness, and school spirit. We know that they all grew from participating in these sports day events!
